We are back to normal this week with a full schedule of football across Europe. In the UK we also have Easter bank holiday meaning there is lots of football Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I will be doing a write up of the best bets for each day starting with Friday 30th March. For any of the other days use the links below.
Friday 30th March
There’s no premier league today but plenty of action in the Championship. I’ll start off with a banker as title chasing Cardiff (4/11) are at home to relegation battlers Burton. Cardiff have won their last 6 games at home and should take the 3 points comfortabley.
Preston (6/4) have been one of the best teams away from home this season and I expect them to beat a Sheffield Wednesday team which has underperformed. A win could propel Preston into the playoffs and Wednesday have only won 1 league game at home since November last year.
If your looking for an odds booster then Derby v Sunderland (3/1) could be a closer game than you think. The preference has been to bet against Sunderland every week this season but they have picked up more points away from home than at the Stadium of Light. With Derby struggling for form after no win in the last 7 games (5D, 2L) there’s no reason this can’t end in a draw.
Other possible games are Bristol City (13/10) to win away at Barnsley. Bristol City sit one place outside the playoffs but have not won in 8 away games however they could turn it around against a Barnsley team who are one place above the relegation and are struggling for form home and away.
A couple of games stand out in league 1 with table footers Bury and Rochdale both coming up against tough opponents.
Bury have only picked up 8 points from 18 on the road and face near certain relegation as they travel to Bristol Rovers (10/11) who have an outside chance of promotion. The odds look quite good as Rovers have drawn their last 2 home games but they should have enough to take the 3 points and keep their play off hopes alive.
Rochdale have seen a slight upturn in form and have only lost 1 of their last 6 home games but they still sit second from bottom. A visit from Shrewsbury, who currently sit top of league 1, could prove to much. I was originally wary of this game due to Rochdale’s home form but with odds on an away win at 2/1 it’s worth a punt on the league leaders.
15/1 – Cardiff, Preston, Bristol City and Bristol Rovers
20/1 – Cardiff, Preston, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury.
78/1 – Cardiff, Preston, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury plus Derby and Sunderland Draw
Estimated odds taken from Bet365 on 28/03/2018
With two of their best players sent home and banned for a year you would of thought the Australian cricket team will take some time to recover from this scandal. South Africa are a good test cricket team who already lead the series 2-1 going into the final match which starts at 9:00am UK time. I expect South Africa to deal with the wounded Aussies and take the series 3-1.
South Africa to win – 1/2
